WHAT THIS SCREEN ANSWERS

Conveyor power is easy to underestimate when only payload weight is considered. The drive must overcome friction, elevation, acceleration, and the losses of the actual transmission. A horizontal conveyor with a low friction coefficient behaves very differently from an inclined system that repeatedly accelerates a large moving mass. This screen separates the forces so the preliminary demand can be reviewed.

Enter the moving mass that the drive is responsible for, including the portions of belt, carriers, product, and rotating elements that are appropriate to the simplified model. The friction coefficient is an explicit assumption because real drag varies with belt construction, bearings, contamination, alignment, temperature, and loading. Incline force is calculated from the entered angle, while acceleration force comes from mass and requested acceleration.

MechPlane sums those force components into a required traction estimate. Multiplying by belt speed gives mechanical power at the belt. Dividing by the stated drive efficiency gives an upstream planning requirement. This makes it easier to see whether the demand is driven by steady incline, friction, or acceleration and whether reducing speed, mass, or incline changes the concept more effectively than adding motor size.

The result is only a preliminary motion screen. It does not establish pulley traction, belt tension distribution, take-up requirements, accumulation behavior, transfer losses, start-up current, braking, structure, guarding, or safety controls. Use it to identify the governing force component, then confirm the conveyor and drive with the relevant manufacturer information and qualified machine review.
